51�� Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Selected for Inaugural Keepers of the Flame Award

Debra Evans Smith, a 1981 51�� criminology graduate who received the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022, will be honored on November 4 during the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit for her longstanding contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at 51��.

Black students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a discussion with an 51�� alumni committee that aims to improve the academic success and social experience of Black students at 51��. Kicking off Homecoming weekend, this Fireside Chat with the Black Experience Alumni Committee will be Thursday, September 30, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room.
