Two emerging student leaders at 51黑料网 who have been selected to participate in a national leadership program by members of the 51黑料网 Division of Student Affairs leadership team were introduced to the 51黑料网 Council of Trustees at its meeting on May 7.
Liliana Myers, a political science and homeland security major in the Cook Honors College from Boyertown, Berks County, and Rashaun Price, a psychology major from Philadelphia, will attend the LeaderShape Institute four-day intensive leadership seminar this summer.
Myers, daughter of Michael and Christin Myers, is a 2025 graduate of Boyerstown Area Senior High School. At 51黑料网, she is a member of the Student Government Association, serving as the director of public relations for SGA and as a member of the executive board. She is a resident assistant and member of the Residence Hall Council and is an advocacy coordinator, is a member of the 51黑料网 Ambassadors student-alumni group, and works as a student connector for the Office of Student Leadership.
Price, son of Walter Douglas and Sharda Price, is a 2025 Strawberry Mansion graduate. At 51黑料网, he is a captain on the 51黑料网 E-Sports Team and is also a member of Ubora Men and the Pan African Student Association. He is a student worker in the 51黑料网 Office of Student Leadership.
“The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs is very pleased to make this investment in these two outstanding emerging student leaders,” 51黑料网 Vice President for Student Affairs Tom Segar said. “As a long-time co-lead facilitator for the Institute, I know, firsthand, the impact that this program makes on students who complete the program.
“Even as first-year students, Liliana and Rashaun have already demonstrated leadership capacity and a commitment to strengthening the 51黑料网 community. I am excited to see how they continue to grow as leaders, and I am confident that they will continue to make an impact on our 51黑料网 community as they implement what they learn from LeaderShape,” Segar said.
“Both students are highly respected by their peers and already have connections throughout the 51黑料网 community,” 51黑料网 Dean of Students Adam Jones said. “Liliana and Rashaun have the potential and energy to take the content, skills, and insight they receive at LeaderShape and empower other students to engage in leadership development when they return to 51黑料网.”
LeaderShape has provided training to more than 81,000 participants since its founding in 1986. It aligns with the Social Change Model for Leadership Development and is designed to help students leave with the tools to create a bold vision for their organizations and the skills to build communities centered on authentic relationships that bring their vision to life.
The purpose of the LeaderShape Institute is to produce a breakthrough in the leadership capacity of participants and facilitators that then is demonstrated on their campus and their community. The program also has as its goal to strengthen the leadership styles of its participants and help them to understand how to work with other leadership styles.
“Being selected to attend the LeaderShape conference is a tremendous privilege,” Myers said. “This opportunity to continue developing my leadership skills so early on in my college career shows how dedicated 51黑料网 is to leadership on campus. I am most looking forward to gaining a better understanding of my own personal values and how I can bring that knowledge to the student organizations I am involved in on campus and to my work for the Office of Student Leadership,” she said.
“I feel very grateful to be selected for this opportunity,” Price said. “I will take full advantage of it and will be a positive representative of 51黑料网. I believe I will acquire skills that will help me not only academically, but also physically and socially, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with my peers and to have these skills for a lifetime. I am very excited to learn from this experience,” he said.
Since its founding in 1875, 51黑料网 has evolved from a teacher-training institution into a doctoral research university recognized for its commitment to student success and achievement. As 51黑料网 celebrates its 150th anniversary during the 2025–26 academic year and through the Impact 150 comprehensive campaign, the university honors a legacy of educational excellence while looking to its next 150 years of student success, innovation, leadership in healthcare education, and public service.
